The Law of Attraction

Today, a quick video post explaining the "truth" behind the Law of Attraction.

What is it really? How does it work? How can you truly master it - without all the unnecessary frills and trappings?

Also...

After yesterday's blog post - 'Release Your Religion' - I received a large amount of negative feedback by e-mail. Most messages told me I was scheduled to burn in hell.

It seems that the title of this particular blog post aroused strong feelings in a subsection of readers - although most appeared not to have actually read the article.

To clarify: this wasn't an anti-religious blog post, but rather "religion" here was a euphemism for ANY limiting thoughts which may be holding us back.

It may include religion, certainly, but as the article clearly pointed out, that wasn't its core focus. A more succinct word for limiting beliefs escaped me while composing the post.

Right, that's all. See you again soon! x

Release Your Religion

Religion! Now there's a sensitive topic.

But if you're smart enough, you won't be at all offended by what follows. All you need is a genuine desire for freedom - and an open heart.

Let me start by asking a question.

How many of us are limiting our lives, because of the "religion" we have chosen?

It might be an actual religion, such as Judaism. It might be the 10-step system from our favourite self-help book. It might be the general belief system of the society in which we live.

We each have our own "religion."

And these religions are holding us back.

They provide a framework to live within. But by default, any framework keeps you packed in.

Does your chosen religion hold you back?

Our religions force us to do things differently. We don't take action, because it's against our religion. We don't follow our bliss, because it's against our religion. We feel unable to change, limited, bound by the system of our religion.

And that stops us from truly experiencing freedom.

So, this section is all about realizing that many of us use our "religions" as an excuse for not taking action. When we realize that, we can learn to disregard the religion - and do it anyway.

Today's post is about realizing that there are really no rules.

It's about releasing our own "religions."

That's freedom.

Let's start with the self-help world.

Now this is an industry littered with redundant religions.

The Secret. Cosmic ordering. Positive thinking. The Law of Attraction. Tarot cards. What The Bleep.

These are all systems which tell you how to live. The Law of Attraction has probably received the most focus in recent years. It tells you that similar things are attracted to each other - so think rich, and you'll attract more money into your life.

Some of these things can certainly help guide you  toward success.

However they still impose a new set of rules for you to live by, a new religion to follow. You have to make sure you "attract" correctly. You need to follow the precise seven steps for "ordering" from the universe.

When you don't "manifest" the right way - you blame your negative thinking, and beat yourself up. The rules of the religion start to constrain you, and ultimately begin to lead your life.

Right? Think about it.

The truth is that almost 100% of all self-help systems are based on just a couple of core principles.

Firstly, you get what you expect. (Rule #7 - Intention Sets Direction.)

Secondly, you can let go of "bad" emotions. (Rule #2 -
Learning to Let Go.)

But these simple principles are so easy, they aren't attractive enough to most people. So self-development authors surround them in hype and ritual, giving them a seeming importance.

Readers follow these rituals, and limit their experience - by trying to force themselves to follow rules and principles that
are simply not important.

Would you prefer to follow the rules of a self-development guru - or would you prefer to be free?

You don't need to follow the crowd when it comes to success and your own freedom.

To experience true freedom, you need to realize that the rules around you can all be dropped. And, if you wish, that includes this one!

The same can be said about the world of real religions - systems that contain more rules than most!

How many people reading this book are currently being restricted by their theistic religion?

They beat themselves up for "sinning." They change their lifestyles to align themselves with their God. They don't mix with certain people because that's what is written.

Let's get one thing straight here: Today, as ever, religions are being used to control people. No doubt about it.

The "rules" are progressively changing, with modern day "leaders" telling the world which bits should and shouldn't be adhered to. The Book of Leviticus tells us we shouldn't eat prawns, but how many Christians adhere to that these days? How many even know about it?

The rules are fluid. They're not "real." They're not Holybound. And there's no such thing as that mean, evil God sitting and judging you.

(It's worth considering whether there is such a thing as God full stop. Consider reading "The God Delusion" and "The Dawkins Delusion" to make your own mind up. Remember, you can be an atheist and spiritually-developed.)

Religions are just a set of rules invented to keep the masses in control. They're a form of police, with the ultimate threat: eternal damnation. Something we can neither prove nor disprove. And so the members of religion continuously live in fear.

Don't.

Decide right now to be free.

Don't let the rules of religion hold you back, or limit your life. I guarantee you'll regret it if you do.

It doesn't matter whether you're Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic, or a Scientologist - if you feel limited in any way by your religion, you are NOT experiencing true freedom. If you feel you are sinning, you are NOT experiencing true freedom.

And so.

Every day, people use their religion - from the Law of Attraction to Christianity - to determine how they act. They change their lives to fit the rules. They limit themselves and their actions. And when they get things wrong, they feel bad and punish themselves.

Long story short: Religions restrict you. Release your
religion.

And the next time you feel yourself limited by religion in ANY way whatsoever, remind yourself that the real truth is quite simple. Religion forces you to adhere to man-made rules. True freedom doesn't.

So - be free.

Understand this section on a deep level, and you'll have taken a massive jump in your journey toward true self-development.

"Call Yourself a Writer?"

Nick Daws recently tagged me in this meme on his writing blog.

The task was to answer questions about writing - then tag other writers to do the same.

So, here goes, Nick:

1. Which words do you use too much in your writing?

I used to say "Basically" too much. Then "And" to start a sentence. Then "But."

Now I just use too many words full stop ;)

2. Which words do you consider overused in stuff you read?

All the new social media phrases: Twit-anything, Web 2.0 (it's already here: get over it), improper spelling/capitalisation of anything technical. ("web," "internet," "E-Mail," etc.)

3. What's your favourite piece of writing by you?

How self-loathing! :)

It's always the last thing I wrote. So probably this article!

I really liked The Secret Art of Self-Development book, which was released in May. I wrote that in just a few weeks, part-time - but it really captures the essence of my logical, "spiritual" views.

4. What are your other favourite blogs?

I'm a big fan of:

http://www.mywritingblog.com/

http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/

5. Regrets, do you have a few? Is there anything you wish you hadn't written?

I look back at some of my earlier "humorous" writing and it's quite obvious how my wit (or former lack thereof) has developed!

I regret not finding time to read more, especially the classics. And I really want to find time to write my big next book: my true passion, all about spirituality vs religion. (Watch out for a follow-on documentary too!)

6. How has your writing made a difference? What do you consider your most important piece of writing?

In the early days, I wrote a few computer programming books. I received some great feedback, with people stating it was the only coding book they'd ever taken on vacation with them. Which was nice!

These days, most of the feedback I receive follows the self-development writing - particularly here at Karl Blog.com.

The feedback is superb, and I'm thrilled that the words I throw down every other day really makes a difference to people's lives all across the globe.

7. Name three favourite words

Inspiration. Happiness. Mojito.

8. ...And three words you're not so keen on

Annoyed. Slow. "Server-down."

9. Do you have a writing mentor, role model or inspiration?

I often think that the reason I got involved in writing was an obsession in early-life with "Murder, She Wrote."

I suspect I have a lot to thank Angela Lansbury for!

10. What's your writing ambition?

To live in Maine, write mystery stories to international acclaim - while still having time to solve the plentiful murders in my sleepy, local town.

But while I'm in the UK, I really want to finish my magnus opum on logic, life and spirituality - followed by the documentary I mentioned.

11. Plug alert! List any work you would like to tell your readers about.

Please - I'm British!

But if you insist, please check out www.secretartbook.com.

So, that's me!

In accordance with Linda's rules (see below), I'm going to contact the recent authors I've interviewed at Writers FM - including Edwina Currie, Joanne Harris, Bernard Cornwell and Lucinda Hawksley.

Let's hope they can get involved! :)

The Offiial Rules
If you have time to do this meme, then please link to my post here, then link to three to five other bloggers and pass it on, asking them to answer your questions and link back to you. You can add, remove or change one question as you go (as I did with Question 4 - feel free to revert to Linda's original if you like). You absolutely do not have to be what you may think of as a "published" or "successful" writer to respond to this meme.
Have fun, and I look forward to reading more responses!

Manipulative Psychology Review

We've all seen it before.

The confident nightclub player that snatches the best girl on the dancefloor. the one that should've been yours.

The forthright employee that ticks off that promotion. when it was deservedly yours from the start.

The arrogant type that talks over your witty comments with indiscernibly different humour. yet mysteriously keeps the crowd in hysterics.

What is it that makes THIS sort of individual. confident, successful, inviting. different from you?

Of course, I'm being presumptuous - and arrogant. I know by the fact you're even reading this that you're already a highly successful individual.

But inside each of us, there's a yearning to understand what lies behind this type of person. the secrets to their beingness.

We want to understand, quite simply, their psychology.

I've just finished reading a fantastic little guide to the topic - which I'd like to recommend that you check out.

It's called Manipulative Psychology - and despite it's seemingly sly-crafty-cunning name, it's actually an interesting expose on what you can do to simply achieve more success in your life.

If you want people to like you more. If you'd like more "luck". If you wish to appear more intelligent.

. Then this book actually shows you how.

It's sales style is traditionally "Rich Jerk." You're a jack-ass, I'm not, you're poor, I'm loaded - etc, etc.

But it's content is phenomenal.

One of the things that always strikes me about some of the most successful people around is how regularly they "fake it until they make it."

And it's a great technique to try.

How often have you wanted to be that confident guy on the dancefloor, making those moves others daren't try? How often have you left the house in a grumpy mood, only wishing you felt better? How often have you wished you were sexier. the centre of attention. a different person?

In these cases, simply "fake it until you make it."

Put on an act. Get into a role. Play the part. Make a conscious decision to JUST BECOME more confident, happier, sexier, funnier - and FAKE IT.

FAKE IT. until your natural psychology takes over. and you MAKE IT. Be an actor in the play of life. It's simple, but it works. Again:

"Fake it until you make it."

That's just one quick method of quickly changing your mindset and enjoying a more successful psychological make-up.

But I'm not an expert.

If you'd really like to change your psychology, and figure how to TRULY become happier, more popular, funnier, more confident, and just simply more, then I'd really recommend that you read Manipulative Psychology.

Check out the official website at http://www.manipulativepsychology.com/

It gets 10 stars from KarlBlog.com*

Meanwhile, I'm leaving you with a few snapshots from my recent trip to Spain :)
