Release Your Genius!

Hello all you bright, wonderful people!

Are you in touch with your genius side today?

Yes ... you heard me right ... you do know that there is a genius within you? Yes, that's right!

In fact, your genius may already be revealing itself in the work that you do or in your creative pursuits. Or it could be that your genius is waiting to be discovered!

But what is it to be genius? Surely you need an amazing IQ or some incredible talent?

There are many interpretations of genius. Some define genius as being an individual who can apply his or herself to mastering a subject. There are, indeed, genius scientists and academics but there are also genius artists, musicians, artisans, and teachers.

Surely you have to be born with genius?

Well, there are certainly many people who believe that we all have potential for genius and that it can be shaped.

Writer Elizabeth Gilbert provided an inspiring talk at TED suggesting that we all have potential for genius.

It's definitely worth listening to!

So, how do you discover the genius within? Well, you could start focusing on what you're passionate about. Or you could try unlocking the genius within you. Take a look at the genius mindset!

Victor Hugo once said:

"Inspiration and genius - one and the same."

So, what inspires you?

Spend some time today exploring your genius side. You never know, it could take you on an incredible journey!

Have an inspiring day!

  • My creative successes are very modest, but I have the subjective feeling that the good stuff comes from outside myself, and I know a lot of other writers, artists and musicians do too. But I'm an atheist and rationalist, and I don't believe in muses. I think creativity comes from the same part of our brains as dreams: we've all got it, but it's not under conscious control. As Elizabeth says, you just show up and do your bit, and hope that the magic comes.

  • Hello Karl

I believe that we all have some latent creativity within us - our 'plot of land' which we can develop. Obviously, not all our plots our equal, and yet, we have to try and develop what nature has given us to the full - and that's up to us!

Personally, I derive inspiration from people (such as authors but also from common people), from reading and from travel.

Your Writers' FM interviews are great sources of inspiration, by the way!

    Cheers,

    Richard

  • Hi Karl,
I absolutely agree. We've all got a gift or 2 or 3. The clue is to find it. I have a related blog on a man who found his genius in several areas at http://www.mindbridge-loa.com/follow-your-bliss.html

Or, if some of your readers are interested in how to bring out their own genius, they might take a look at http://www.mindbridge-loa.com/art_of_allowing.html

Thanks for your input. Always inspirational.

    Nancy
